As Bookstore Manager I was responsible for forecasting inventory and ordering the appropriate amount as needed. This includes student gym wear, school spirit wear, and some school supplies. I also work on pricing and plan out seasonal sales. This position greatly expanded my ability to interact with customers and showed me the challenges of running your own business.
Involvement
Students of Service Officer - Vice President (2012-2013)
As a part of a community based service organization, I was able to participate in events such as the Rake and Run and Thanksgiving with the Troops. I served as Vice President from October, 2012 to May, 2013. Responsibilities included weekly meetings, planning events, and working with the community. I participate in roughly 15 community service events annually through this organization.
Future Business Leaders of America Officer - Bookstore Manager (2013-Present)
FBLA is a student run business organization with focus on professional development and promoting business ideas in high school students. As a member of the officer team, I am responsible for planning events, activity period classes, and monthly general meetings in addition to my Bookstore specific responsibilities.
WTHS Volleyball Team Member (2012-Present)
In addition to daily practice, I supported the teams fundraising efforts. The individual goal was to sell 10 tubs of Gourmet Caramel Popcorn in the community, I personally sold over 25 tubs and raised $400 for the team.
Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica Member (Present)
I applied to this club by writing an essay expressing my leadership skills, and was elected because I showed integrity throughout my years of taking Spanish. One of the requirements that I have to maintain is a GPA of 3.5.
Professional Development
National Fall Leadership Conference FBLA (2013-2014)
FBLA’s annual fall professional development event includes unforgettable workshops and excellent keynote speakers. Only the most active members of my local chapter were invited to attend.
Nothern Area Competitive Event FBLA (2014- 2015)
This conference is the first step to competing at the national level. I competed in Website Design and received 5th place. Competitors are also given opportunities to listen to speakers and attend workshops.
